Creating Your Universes: The First Step

By: Kenrick Cleveland

"Civilization advances as more and more of life's essentials are absorbed by the unconscious." -Diane Ackerman, "An Alchemy of Mind: The Marvel and Mystery of the Brain"

The mind fascinates me--especially the unconscious/subconscious mind. The other than conscious is an integral part of my work in the persuasion field. In her amazing book, Diane Ackerman explains that our brains need space without volume because the conscious mind, the thinking part, can only hold a finite amount of information. And so our brains ". . . began storing information and memories outside itself on stone, papyrus, paper, computer chips, and film. This astonishing feat is so familiar a part of our lives that we don't think about it much. But it was an amazing and rather strange solution to what was essentially a packing problem: just store your essentials elsewhere and avoid cluttering up the cave."

Think about this. It's both amazing and strange. Evolution has, in essence, created an infinite hard drive for our conscious minds--the unconscious.

With all this in mind, I want to suggest a phenomenal tool to help you get exactly what you want in life with the assistance of your other-than-conscious mind. Mapping out our quantum universes is a powerful way to communicate with the subconscious.

For this exercise, we get a snap shot of ourselves right now, exactly where we are in our growth and life. If you're a sculptor, go ahead an chisel in stone, or perhaps you have a papyrus source. Another option is to use the "Create Your Quantum Universe" on the website www.maxpersuasion.com. If you're already a member of my coaching club or the Persuasion Factor, I'd highly recommend using this option.

Really, all you need is a pen or pencil and paper.

Consider this a verbal snapshot of who you are now. What do you do? where do you life? What are your set points financially, health-wise and romance-wise? What are your dreams? How does your life resemble the life you wanted when you were young? You can put everything in this snapshot from soup to nuts. Write it out and then think on it. Expand it. Let it grow into something that you can use as a sort of time capsule for You: 2007.

How cool would it be to have one of these for each and every year of your life? Who were you in 1984? Some of you may have not even been born. Some of you have excellent memories and can recall who you were back then. But I'd suggest you make a commitment to creating this snapshot of yourself once a year from here on out. Pick your birthday or another day of significance. And give yourself the time you need to really map out a picture of yourself.

Let this be a little acorn that you begin to grow. And in an upcoming post I'll give you the next step, but know that as we unpack and eliminate our storage problems, we're going to have all kinds of space for the essentials.
