1. Chevrolet

Topping the list for car searches in Houston is Chevrolet Houston, with just over 255,000 searches. The top car in Los Angeles was Toyota. Chevrolet was number three on that list. This shows that in Houston, at least, people prefer an American-made car.

2. Ford

Ford Houston was searched for nearly 215,000 times. This is a solid showing for a company that has been struggling recently.

3. Houston Toyota

Trailing Ford Houston by about 45,000 searches is Toyota Houston with fewer than 170,000 searches. Although it dropped from the top spot when compared to L.A., it is still a strong competitor in Houston.

4. Honda

There were just over 145,000 Internet searches for Honda Houston. This puts Honda in fourth place.

5. Nissan

In fifth place is Nissan Houston. That makes three Japanese automakers in a row. It does give the impression that although Texans still prefer domestic they may be switching loyalties to the more dependable Japanese cars. Nissan Houston was searched about 120,000 times.

6. BMW

BMW Houston arrives 6th on the list. Close to 110,000 people searched for BMW Houston. This is a strong showing for a luxury automobile in a city that values practicality.

7. Dodge Houston

The third American-made car on the list is Dodge Houston with just about 100,000 searches. Compared to its tenth place in L.A., Dodge Houston makes a solid showing here.

8. Mercedes Benz Houston

Just over 82,000 people searched for Mercedes Benz Houston in the past month. This is a good show in a city that values practicality over showiness. Mercedes Benz Houston does offer a variety of cars to fit into varying budgets.

9. Houston Lexus

Lexus Houston got 68,000 searches. This is not as high as in L.A. But then again, we're not searching for L.A. Lexus Houston is a good luxury alternative if your pockets aren't deep enough for a BMW or Mercedes.

10. Houston Cadillac

Cadillac Houston is a new comer to the top 10 list. It is an American-built luxury automobile: showing once again that Houston prefers domestic to foreign. Just over 61,000 people searched for Cadillac Houston last month.
