How Could The Study Of Amino Acids Help The Humanity

Chemists have discovered that the number of different amino acids is around 750. Lots of amino acids can exist separately, but others may be found only as a component of some complicated systems as molecules. For example, peptides and proteins have some amino acids included. The twenty amino acids which are used in living cells for protein synthesis under the control of genes are in a special category since they are basic to all life forms as building substance for peptides and proteins.

There are some functional groups included into a molecule of amino acid. They are called amine and carboxyl groups. The main forms of subsistence of amino acids are D or L (dextro and levo). With the exception of glycine, all other amino acids are mirror reflections that can not be superimposed.

Most of the amino acids discovered in nature are of the L-kind. D-amino acids can be found in a huge amount of peptide antibiotics or in bacterial cell walls, while L-type essential amino acid
nonessential amino acids can be the ingredients of eukaryotic proteins.

Amino acids are grouped into two classes: essential amino acids and nonessential amino acids. Such class as essential or indispensable amino acids can not be produced by a body and they need food support. The other amino acid - histidine is considered semi-essential due to the organism doesn’t always need dietary sources of it.

There are two ways of creating of nonessential proteins: they may be created from essential ones or during the process of proteins breakdown.

There are 20 amino acids from the both essential and nonessential groups that are really irreplaceable for the proper work of any organism. The main function of alpha-amino acids is creating of building elements of proteins. Peptide bond holds some of the amino acid elements which are created during the action of dehydration synthesis together with the liquid released at the same time by the identical process. To realize the initial structure of peptides we need to take a look at the row of amino acid residues created by dehydration. The amount of various sequences of the amino acids can not be calculated definitely as there are millions of variants. It can be matched with expressions which are completed of letters.

Amino acids are believed to be truly significant as they control some of hormonal operations in living organisms.

The physiological significance of alpha amino acids ensures a sustained concern in their chemistry - especially in pharmaceutical development for modern drugs, and for their synthesis, reaction and physical properties. As is often the case when the chemistry of a biologically important group of compounds is being vigorously developed, an increasing range of roles has been identified for alpha amino acids in the wider context of stereoselective laboratory synthesis.
