Pamper Yourself With a Trip to Rhodes Island

By: Gen Wright

One of the most well known characteristic of the Rhodes island is its sun. Also known as the sun island or the island of light, the Rhodes island basks in all year round sunlight due to its subtropical climate. Tourists and even locals find it hard to resist making a trip there to enjoy the sunny beaches. With so much sun and beautiful beaches, you can be sure to enjoy the diverse water activities at the island.

But sun and water sports are hardly unique attractions at holiday resorts. What makes Rhodes island unique is its history and culture. And it is impossible to duplicate the history of any location. Rhodes history began as early as the Neolithic period. Since then, the island has been occupied by many different races such as the Minoans, the Telchines, the Achaeans, the Dorians, the Persians, and later by the mighty forces from the Athens. As a result, the island is sprinkled with many unique exhibits, all of which remains as proof of the existence of the many different races. These are ancient exhibits that cannot be found anywhere else.

The Rhodes island has a total of eleven cities, with Rhodes city as the largest among all. Therefore, it would certainly be over-ambitious to try to cover all the attractions on the island. So this article will be reserved for only the attractions that most deserved to be mentioned.

For one, there is a casino on the island for those who wish to try their luck. Having a casino is certainly a welcome attraction among tourists, for not all tourist spots have casinos. And besides the casinos, the Rhodes island is also well known its colorful and exciting night life. With over a hundred pubs, discos, and night clubs, the island promises endless hours of wild fun for those seeking late night entertainment.

Of course, besides these two well known characteristics, the Rhodes island also has all the outstanding qualities of a great tourist spot - over 15 top-notch hotels to choose from, eight villages for sight-seeing, over ten sunny beaches for those who love water sports and sun tanning, and more than twelve distinct cultural spots worth visiting.

You can get into the island by cruise ships or by plane. And the island is connected by public bus services, which makes it easy to move around all parts of the island. Or you may prefer to rent a car or motorcycle just for convenience. With that said, make sure you make plans for what you want to do on your trip. If time is a concern, and that's just too much to do, renting a car may sound like a really good idea.

With so much to do, and so much to see, it's not surprising to see why Rhodes island remains as one of the top choice of vacation for many tourists.
