Stress Management With Hypnosis And Yoga

By: Ruff Raun

Bouts with stress can disrupt your system causing an array of symptoms such as overeating, irritability, depression, no energy or ambition and sleeping disorders.

Stress can affect every part of the body and produce negative physical, mental and emotional symptoms. One biological affect of chronic stress is weight gain. Trying to lose weight can be an even bigger challenge for people with chronic stress.

According to Nutrition Science News, one downstream biological effect of chronic stress is weight gain. Stress can affect virtually any part of the body and produce physical, mental and emotional symptoms including allergies, dizziness, headache, heart palpitations, impaired coordination, impaired immunity and weight gain.

Changes in the body formed by stress, such as higher cortisol levels, can cause weight gain and insuline resistance according to researchers. Source: Nutrition Science News.

With all the new research pointing towards an obesity epidemic here in America, parallels can also be drawn between the relationship of unhealthy lifestyles and stress. People tend to take worst care of themselves due to their apathetic and pessimistic outlook on life, which in turn will cause lack of motivation to exercise or be active and eat right.

Most people spend their lives avoiding pain and seeking pleasure in order to find that comfort zone where stress is best well managed. If we fall out of that comfort zone due to a stressful situation or event, we reach for something to make us feel better like sugary foods, or a drink and a smoke etc.

More and more people are seeking natural alternative methods that don't require drugs that usually end up not working in the long term.

Doing any form of vigorous exercise or activity can relieve stress. Your brain will release chemicals called endorphines that will give you a natural mental state of well-being. Exercise combined with a psycological and emotional change will give you the desire to maintain a healthy lifestyle while relieving stress and enable you to lose weight and keep it off.

Two natural alternative solutions that can be taught and used at home and becoming a conventional remedy for many of todays ailments and stress related weight gain symptoms, are hypnosis and yoga.

Unfortunately, many individuals have a hard time sticking to a conventional diet, especially since it usually involves elliminating a lot of your favorite foods and requires a lot of dedication not only to a strict diet but a full healthy diet program needs to include exercise also.

Hypnosis and yoga are in the spot light for their general health and healing benefits, relieving stress and its related symptoms of obesity and the diminished desire to get physically active or exercise.

Hypnosis is an altered state of consciousness, in which you enter a trance-like state.

Only individuals with a willingness and an complete dedication to their treatment goals will be successfull with hypnosis.

When a person is under hypnosis, they will enter into a state of mind similar to when someone is totally unaware of their surroundings while listening to music or while driving or running.

For many years hypnosis was frowned down upon as a theatrical parlor trick exploited by charlatans, but western medicine has shown a fascination in its potential and has since become a useful tool in helping people lose weight, quit smoking, help relieve chronic pain and also used to motivate or extinguish phobias and fears.

The root of success with hypnosis for weight loss is by altering your state of mind that will elliminate food cravings and make you want to take care of yourself by eating healthy foods and staying away from the fattening foods plus a sudden desire to exercise and get physically active.

Hypnosis is no magic trick. Success to reach your treatment goals depends on the use of a natural physical state that affects your subconscious and is only obtainable if it is something you sincerely want.

Yoga means union, an experience of oneness with your inner being. Yoga originated over 5000 years ago in India and has been modified through generations. Yoga has become highly relevant in todays stressful society.

Hatha is a style of yoga that involves the more physical type of poses. The most physical type being Ashtanga, that utilizes the both physical and powerful asanas poses.

This style of yoga today is referred to as Power Yoga and is being taught and performed in many of the health clubs across the country because of the benefits that are reaped from the physically demanding poses. The persistant movement (flow) strenghtens heart, mind and body while elevating flexibility.

If your using yoga only to lose weight and get in shape, the yoga workouts need to be often and long enough to reap the fat burning results.

With the stress relief and physical benefits associated with yoga and exercise, many people are combining yoga with other forms of exercise such as aerobics, walking and many other forms of fat burning activity workouts.

Yoga also needs to be performed on a regular basis to have a long term lasting effect. And similar to starting an exercise regimen for the first time, you will need to perform less intense yoga poses in the beginning, so you dont' hurt yourself.

So, both hypnosis and yoga are truly effective alternatives to supplements and drugs for weight loss or any stress symptom, providing a deep willingness is present . The rewards will be proportionate to your efforts
