The Powerful M-18 Taser

By: John Audlee

The Taser M-18 is a powerful personal protection device that allows you to disable a potential attacker from as far as 15 feet away. It works by launching to probes, propelled by compressed nitrogen. The probes travel at an incredible 180 feet per second, allowing you to take down a would-be assailant in less than one-tenth of a second.

The probes remain connected to the body of the Taser by insulated high-voltage wires. When the probes attach to the attacker, 50,000 volts of electricity travel through the wires to the probes, which knock the assailant to the ground. He ends up in a fetal position, giving you the opportunity to run away.

Advanced Technology of the Taser M-18 :

Traditional stun devices, such as the stun gun, deliver electricity in a lower wattage range designed to interfere with the signals that are transmitted from the brain to the musculature of the body. The interference makes it difficult for the muscles and the brain to communicate with each other, temporarily stunning the attacker. The only drawback to this method is that there is a small percentage of the population who has a very high tolerance for electrical stimulation, which enables them to fight through the interference and continue to function.

The Taser M-18 uses a higher wattage that causes what is known as electro-muscular disruption, or EMD. When a self-defense weapon with EMD technology is deployed against an attacker, the increased wattage communicates with the assailant’s brain, telling the muscles to contract uncontrollably. This takes the assailant to the ground and puts him in a fetal position, regardless of his pain tolerance.

Using the M-18 Taser and its Effects on an Attacker :

The effective range for the Taser M-18 is any distance up to 15 feet. At that range the probes are extremely accurate, resulting in dual probe strikes in 90 percent of the activations. If only one probe strikes the assailant and the other one lands on grass or dirt, the electricity will still ground and the device will be effective. Its effectiveness is diminished if the second probe lands on wood, asphalt, or concrete.

The electrical current from the Taser M-18 can jump up to two inches, making it an effective self defense weapon even if the assailant is wearing bulky clothing.

Once deployed, an internal timer in the Taser M-18 initiates a five-second burst of high voltage electricity that will cause the assailant to become completely incapacitated. The effects of the Taser diminish as soon as the electrical current stops, and the Taser M-18 will not cause any permanent injuries or damage. The electrical current, although extremely powerful, will not interfere with the operation of pacemaker devices.
In addition to involuntary muscle contractions, the recipient of a Taser M-18 shot will experience temporary vertigo and may also experience temporary amnesia.

In order to assure maximum effectiveness, the Taser M-18 should be aimed at an assailant’s chest. This ensures the greatest potential for landing both probes on the attacker’s body and reduces the risk of striking him in the face.

The Taser M-18 is a powerful, effective, yet perfectly safe personal protection device. It should be used in accordance with all appropriate instructions and safety guidelines, and within the laws of your individual jurisdiction. It can be legally carried in most areas of the United States, offering a means of self-defense that is non-lethal, yet carries with it stopping power that takes effect more quickly that a shot from a 9mm handgun.
