The all new Blackberry Bold 9000 3G

By: Michiel Van Kets

A new Smartphone has recently hit the market. The Blackberry Bold 9000 3G has been enthusiastically received and is already being described as a better alternative to the iPhone. Unlike preceding offerings from RIM the Blackberry Bold is 3G HSDPA compatible and supports UMTS 2100/900/850 mhz networks as well as GSM 1900/1800/900/850Mhz bandwidths.

The Blackberry Bold 9000 Smartphone is GPRS, EDGE and HSDPA enabled meaning that there are numerous data sources available for this device. In Australia this can means speeds of up to 14Mbps on 3G networks. There is also WIFI for those hotspots.

To set up your email on this smart phone is quite simple in comparison to other phones. You simply input your email address and password and the device then automatically searches through its database of servers and locates the right settings for you. Sit back and relax whilst it retrieves your emails.

The display is WQVGA 480X320 and has an impressive colour and sharpness to it. The new Blackberry 9000 Bold 3G Smartphone is also compatible to iTunes using Blackberry Media Sync. It can be plugged into a laptop or desk top by means of a USB or Bluetooth, pick out the items you want to synchronize with and it does the rest for you.

What else is new that makes it an iPhone killer? It is delivered with 1Gb of expandable memory via a Micro SD card Slot (so you can expand up to 32Gb) , Interchangeable battery, 2Mb Camera with LED photolight illuminator, Video Recording, 2 year warranty (even Nokia won’t go there).

Viewing is managed by the track ball for navigation. This will be more user friendly for mouse users than the iPhones finger slide operation and can be done singled handed.

It also has internal GPS with Blackberry Maps and voice guidance on hand via Tell Map making it a Sat Nav machine. It even has bill payment options using Mint Mobile Payments so it can be used as a Mobile Eftpos machine. This version of the Blackberry is perfect for those constantly traveling around the country. If your company uses Salesforce, the Blackberry Bold 9000 3G can be synchronized to work with Sales Force CRM Software.

The advantage of the Blackberry over the iPhone is that it can be used if you have only one hand free, leaving the other to take notes or tap away at your computer screen. The new Blackberry Bold 9000 3G really is a totall wireless solution.
