Up to Date Systems Can Help to Cure Sight to Patients with Complex Diseases

By: Mathew Petrenko

There are a lot of methods of sight treatment nowadays but not all of them are truly helpful and efficient. The most effective system is laser operations. With some modern systems such significant eye illnesses as astigmatism, nearsightedness and long vision may be cured. Doctor John Zorn said that Corona lasik institute has an opportunity to develop such techniques a lot. People who use laser vision correction can be sure that the results of the treatment will be constant and their sight will be nice.

The history of laser vision correction

The problem of sight treatment became being reviewed in the beginning of the 20th century. As a result a lot of experiments with the retina were carried out. One of the most widespread systems is Fedorov’s method. The entire operation consists of several small incisions and insections carried out by surgeon with some microscopic tools. After the first experimental operations were carried out the scientists ascertained that such operations may do harm to the eyeball and some other parts of eye. The operation is rather hazardous as it can produce some serious consequences. In some conditions it may be even the absolute loss of vision.

Eximer-laser vision correction

Scientists began developing some new techniques using principles of Fedorov’s technique. In the 1970’s there was a great invention that affected this area considerably – eximer laser. Today doctors announce that techniques that utilize eximer lasers as base are actually harmless and their effectiveness is fabulous. Laser beam is driven by some special computer system of reshaping of the cornea. The basic purpose of carrying out of any surgical operations is to get the proper form of the retina. There are two the most renowned methods that are frequently utilized today: PRK photorefractive keratectomy and Lasik.

PRK method

This method is actually widespread and it is based on use of eximer laser in medical purposes. To correct the shape of retina the laser beam which has high temperature evaporates some excess parts of eyeball. That system is called non-contact as neither doctor nor any tools contact with the surface of an eye. Nevertheless PRK method has some drawbacks: some micro erosion appears during the operation and the patient feels pain over a period of several days.

Lasik method

This method is the complex of microsurgical influence and eximer-laser technology. The primary experiments were carried out by the doctors of Camden lasik center. The upper layers of the eyelens are detached and saved by usage of special organic liquids. The main instrument that is utilized during the applying of lasik technique is a special microsurgical instrument which cuts the upper part of the retina. The eyeball gets open and all its parts are reachable. The last section of the operation is to set the detached parts of the eyeball on the right place. So this method may help persons that suffer from bad vision with no incisions and sutures at all. There are lots of establishments that attempt to improve better techniques of vision correction and probably the most renowned of them is Gatesville lasik surgery.
